Rib support boat

We’re off to Le Havre!

It’s sad to say but the season of 2019 is pretty much over as we begin to creep into the autumn and then winter months. It’s always difficult to say goodbye to the summer, however it gives our operations team the much needed time to take all of our boats out for refurbishment so that they’re in top condition for next season.

That time is not quite upon us though, as we still have one last ‘big charter’ at the end of October… 14 of our Ribs will be crossing the channel to aid Alex Thomson Racing (ATR) with their start of the Transat Jacques Vabre race.

This yachting race had it’s first edition back in 1993, set up and sponsored by a French brand of coffee, the race follows a historic coffee trading route between France & Brazil with boats leaving from Le Havre and finishing at Salvadoe de Bahia. The course will see competitors race across 4335 miles to the finish, with the fastest record to date completed in just over 10 days by Franck Cammas & Steve Ravussin in the multihull 60 class during the 2007 edition.

The race will showcase ATR’s brand new boat which was launched back in September. The design of the boat has been completely orientated around winning the 2020 Vendee Globe and will definitely be a sight to see out in action for the first time!
