Transat Jacques Vabre

Yesterday tens of thousands of spectators lined the streets of Le Havre to watch the start of the 12th edition of the Transat Jacques Vabre.

Established in 1993 by Jacques Vabre, the race retraces the routes of the 17th Century merchant ships which went to the coffee producers (Columbia, Costa Rica and Brazil) from Le Havre, the coffee port of France.

The 42 entrants set off in four different classes (Class 40, IMOCA, Multi 50 and Ultime) for what was a slow start as light winds and sunny skies were more like that of a summers day.

Solent Rib Charter were in Le Havre as Official Rib Supplier to Hugo Boss skippered by Alex Thomson and Guillermo Altadill. Lookout for photos of the race start from tomorrow when the team return from France

We wish Hugo Boss and all others taking part well with their race.
