Back in May this year, SRC employees Bligh Hannah and Dan along with 2 other friends Josh and Jason cycled from Largs Yacht Haven on the West Coast of Scotland to Lymington Yacht Haven, the home marina of SRC in 6 days.
The challenging journey covering 500 miles was in aid of the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust, a charity that helps rebuild confidence in young people recovering from cancer through sailing. The Trust’s sailing trips can be a huge step forward for young people in regaining independence often lost during long periods of hospitalisation.
Yesterday, the team went to meet Ellen MacArthur in Cowes to present a cheque to the trust for the total raised by the team, £5447.50, an end total the team were all delighted with.
The team very much enjoyed meeting Ellen and chatting about sailing and the trusts trips. The money raised will enable the trust to take 10 young people sailing which is a fantastic result. For further information on how you can get involved with supporting the Trust visit their website or find them on facebook or twitter.
