Sir Ben Ainslie to receive Freedom of Lymington

This evening at a ceremony at Fuller-McClellan Hall Sir Ben Ainslie will receive the honor of Freedom of Lymington, where the Olympic sailor has lived and sailed since his teenage years.

Lymington Town Clerk Steve Cridland said: “Sir Ben will receive the freedom award in recognition of his services to sailing.”

No stranger to honours earlier this year Ainslie was knighted marking over 20 years dedicated to the pursuit of Olympic gold, a moment he described as ‘the proudest day of my life’.

The ceremony begins at 6.30pm tonight.
