With Cowes Week and SailGP now behind us the office is starting to become a calmer environment, however there’s still one last event in August to help fill our diary. The Cowes – Torquay powerboat race will be held on Sunday 25th August 2019 which coincides with the bank holiday weekend, the perfect excuse to get out on the water to view the start of the race.
The race is set to start at 10.00am from the Royal Yacht Squadron Line outside of Cowes, so be sure to find your viewing point before then as these boats don’t hang about once they get going!
Our recommended viewing point would be to to sit in Totland Bay and watch them rip through the Solent and out past the Needles towards Torquay, the site of these boats skipping across the water with the combined noise of there engines is immense!
Jack Weller, our fleet manager, will be competing in the race this year as navigator on the A21 – Pippa. Earlier in the year he competed in The Guernsey Gold cup Offshore Powerboat Race and reached speeds of up to 85mph!
We will all be cheering Jack on and will keep you posted with how he does, look out for updates on our Facebook page!
