Twelve teams of amateur sailors began the tenth Clipper Round the World Race at the weekend. The teams lead by home team GREAT Britain led the fleet out of the International Race Village at St Katherine’s Docks, and through Tower Bridge before making their way east down the river in a parade of sail.
Sir Robin Knox Johnston said: “Irrespective of their amateur status, Mother Nature pulls no punches. They’re going to go through the roughest waters in the world. I wish them a safe and an extraordinary journey – the experiences ahead will stay with them for life.”
Solent Rib Charter yesterday provided a Rib for media coverage of the Race 1 race start. Despite challenging conditions the team on board captured some great shots – Thank you to Clipper for sharing these images with us.
SRC wish all the teams the best of luck with their race, due to return to London 30th July 2016.
