2019 Skippers’ Highlights – Simon Hedley

With our final week in the office before we close for Christmas, we turn to Simon Hedley, Solent Events Manager for his favourite charter of 2019!

For me, welcoming back repeat clients is always a highlight of what we do! In July, 100 guests arrived in Swanwick Marina for a Rib Treasure Hunt day on the water. Whilst many of the faces were familiar, it was nice to see new ones too.

After bacon rolls and coffee at the Boathouse Café we headed to the Ribs and made our way down the beautiful Hamble River out into the Solent in the sunshine.

First stop for the Treasure Hunt was Gunwharf Quays before making our way over to Cowes with an American July 4th themed lunch at the Royal Ocean Racing Club.

My skippering role on the day was to drive the photographer’s Rib as well as being the Event Manager, responsible for putting the day together for the client, it’s nice to watch your work coming together from a distance!

We made a little time for our photographer Paul Wyeth to capture some drone images before heading to the last Treasure Hunt stop of the day in Hamble.

Stepping ashore and seeing all the smiling faces having had a great time makes our efforts feel worthwhile and inspiring people to want to get back out on the water is the cherry on the cake for me. I’m looking forward to seeing this group back next year!
