A popular and attractive Harbour on the western bank of the estuary forming the River Dart, Dartmouth is a sheltered deep water port, an historical Devonian town and home to the Britannia Royal Naval College which has trained the Navy’s officer cadre since 1905.
The town is built on the steep hillside running down to the Dart with period houses linked by narrow roads as well as an improbable and complex web of vertiginous staircases. Dartmouth Castle which overlooks the harbour entrance, dates back to the 1380s.
Royal Dart Yacht Club
The Royal Dart Yacht Club has an attractive red brick Victorian ‘villa’ style club house in Kingswear with fine views over Dartmouth. Many sailing clubs enjoy reciprocity with the Royal Dart which is regarded by many as a warm and welcoming club.
Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta
Dartmouth hosts a major three day regatta during August every year. The programme has air displays (including the Red Arrows), a strong naval presence and a multitude of activities ashore as well as afloat. Competitors enjoy excellent racing without the ‘commercial’ feel of some regattas. www.dartmouthregatta.co.uk
There is insufficient demand for us to base Ribs at Dartmouth full time, but we often provide Rib charters in Dartmouth during the season and if necessary deliver to Dartmouth charging no more than our direct costs. Typically we will berth the boats near the town centre.
Skippered or Bareboat
We have operated some very successful corporate events out of Dartmouth but more typically our clients are looking for bareboat rib charter. For more information on bareboat Ribs, please follow the link.
